My friend just bought a new Athlon 1.4ghz along with an ABit mobo w/ VIA Apollo266A + RAID controller. I know the new Athlons need at least a 300v power supply but should I get a 300v, 350v, or a 400v? Any help would be great |

Get a 400w, that way you could run plenty of fans as well. |

No one should theoretically need more than 300W. If you don't intend on installing some serious cooling solution or ridiculous 'neon' lights, etc; then 300W should be more than enough. The power supply and processor (retail) will come with a fan, and the video card if it is fairly current. |

I found out today that GeForce2 cards will need extra power, therefore, I'm probably going to stick with a 400watts power. My friend and I are looking at Antec's workstation 840 model which has 400watts with a nice 4 fans slot . The only problem is it is a bit too expensive and the shipping and handling will cost $30+. I'll be making a 1 hour drive to a Fry's warehouse in Garland this week and hopefully can find it there. |

OMG...no, don't waste the money. Get informed first. Belive me, I work with this stuff.Look for a motherboard with an "AGP PRO" slot then. It is a higher voltage AGP 4x slot for higher-end video cards, but the video cards we're talking about that actually use this are FireGL cards, etc... |
